The Angband 2.8.3 Borg (by Ben Harrison, improved by Keldon Jones)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NB: Please read the rest of the documentation supplied!
NBB: You need the full version of Angband 2.8.3 to use
this Borg.  Simply copy the supplied !Angband over your
current installation of Angband 2.8.3 to install the Borg.
Introduction
````````````

(See http://www.phial.com/angborg/ for minimal information on
the Borg).

Please note that the Borg requires a fair ole chunk o' memory (about 400K
in total) and so pushes up the memory requirements of the game to the
point that it almost certainly won't be usable on 2Mb machines :-/

Essentially, it's this extra memory requirement that's prompted me to
release two versions of this port: one without the Borg, and one with (ie.
this one :)

There is a slightly modified font-acn/prf file supplied in this
archive. This is necessary since the originally supplied one
uses 'A' for the Alchemy shop doorway and 'A' for the Armory
 shop doorway which confuses the poor ickle Borg.

Quick Instructions
``````````````````
To initialise the Borg (ie. get it ready to play) you need to havea valid
character 'ready' (ie. rolled up).  The Borg won't roll characters up.
When you have a character ready, press ^z (ctrl and Z) to start the Borg.  A
little message will be displayed and then (after a small delay) you'll be
prompted for a Borg command.
(If you have 'confirm special commands' turned on in the options (ie. '=')
screen then ypu'll be prompted to confirm that you want to use the
"dangerous, unsupported" Borg commands and warned that things might go
wrong.  In practice I've not had any trouble though.)
Probably the most useful Borg command is 'z' (no quotes :) which makes the
Borg start playing.  You can press any key on the keyboard to stop it.
There's no reason why you can't play for a while, then let the Borg take
over, then take over again yourself if you want to, BTW.
High scores
```````````
Unlike some versions of Angband, this port /will/ enter Borgs on the high-
score table.

[This was accidentally missed out of the 1.04 13/9/98 release - sorry!]

Efficiency Options
``````````````````
I find that I get the best screen update for the Borg if I set "Flush output
before every command" to "no" and "Flush output after various things" to
"yes".
