ii) Bugs fixed:-
3.31- When using keys, game will not zip straight through the level start
       and game end sequences.
     - If joystick is selected as input, but Joystick SWI's do not exist then
the game will no longer die, although you may get weird results.
     - The nasty error that sometimes came up when you completed a level has
been fixed ... hopefully! (the one at &8088)
3.32- No longer crashes when re-defining keys. This problem only appeared in
version 3.31, but it's a miracle it ever worked!

iii) Known bugs (in this version)
     - Just occasionally the game will crash the computer on starting a new
game after options have been changed (??!!??)
     - Green has a tendency to get killed by things killing yellow, but only
when in certain areas/squares(?) of the screen

1) Plot
A large number of evil creatures have invaded the earth. Eggs have begun appearing everywhere, spawning strange bio-mechanical monstrosities. Some of these creatures are armed with deadly weapons.
Military intelligence has located the source of the creature's infestation - a large, heavily guarded teleportation device. You have been given the mission to destroy this device. Unfornulately the nearest you can get to the device by helecopter drop isn't close enough - you're going to have to fight you way by foot through infested territory to get there.
You have been armed with triggered missiles, mines, bombs and a reverse engineered creature spawner. This last piece of equipment will allow you to spawn creatures which will work for you and your team.

2) Controls
Keys are set for each player from within the infestation desktop application. Click menu on the infestation icon and open the 'Controls' submenu.

To launch a weapon, press and hold Bomb (push up twice for
down the fire key, push the relevent a larger bomb)
direction key then let go of the
fire key. While fire is pressed the | Creature (the more
currently selected weapon will be Mine -+- times you push, the
displayed in the player's info | larger the creature)
panel.
                                          Targetting Missile
Four people around a keyboard gets a tad interesting, and I take this opportunity to say that I am in no way responsible for broken fingers ... The upshot of this is: if you have a joystick and port, USE IT.
NOTE: If you're using a joystick and nobody is pressing keys, turn off your screen saver or you may get a nasty shock half way through a level!

3) Teams & Alliances
In Infestation players may choose to share a common pool of energy. Players wanting to do this should be in the same team. Players in the same team may not harm each other. To select the teams open the 'Game Opts' submenu from the main menu, and drag the relevant player to the chosen team. The default option is for no teams ( = each player in a different team ).
If players do not wish to harm each other, but do not want to share energy then they may set up alliances. Alliances are set up between teams and are set in the 'Game Opts' window underneath the team selections. Selecting an option icon in the grid will set an alliance. Underneath this grid a message will describe common combinations such as 'Total friendship'. This message assumes there are four teams. Some alliance structures are quite complicated and it may be difficult to see who your enemies are!

4) Energy
Each player is awarded 1000 units of energy at the start of the game. This energy is added to the team's total. A team with four players will start with 4000 units of energy.
When a team's energy reaches zero, the entire team will die.
Energy is used when a player is caught in an explosion or a player plants some kind of weapon. Bombs are least expensive followed by mines then missiles. Eggs are more expensive the larger they get.

5) Mines are clever. Once layed they will only explode should an enemy walk over them. This means you can walk over your own as many times as you like. But be careful, they only last 40 seconds before spontaneously exploding.

6) Targetting Missiles are also clever. When they are planted they twizzle on the spot until they see something you are an enemy with. They then take note of the square and attack it. They will pass any creatures, players or objects on the way and explode in the correct square. As long as the creature or player was not moving too fast it should be hit by the explosion. The explosions they cause are very deadly.

7) Eggs are what the computer and players spawn. These eggs usually take about 10 seconds to hatch. The size and shape of the egg gives an indication as to what will come out from it. Destroying an egg using a bomb etc will prevent that creature from hatching. The level's 'creatures to go' counter will be reduced should the egg be evil (ie. purple).

                   teams die before this time.
14. Lottery.......This token can do a variety of things, both good and bad.
                i) A good splattering of explosions

viii) Nothing (difficult one to program - no really)

10) Battle Mode
At the moment this is very basic.
Select the battle option in the game options window and set up all the other options how you want them. Remember that somebody must be enemies for battle mode to work. If when you start a battle game the screen goes black then returns to the desktop, you probably haven't set up any enemies. At the moment Infestation won't save any of the battle options (starting energy is the only one you can change)
Keep alert as to who has low energy as at the moment the game won't tell you who has won.
P.S. Escape on battle mode just quits the game - no pause option
