Support Converge International!

Convergence is a user group for users of all non-Wintel computers, which was created earlier this year (1996) with the intention of bringing together the non-Wintel community to present a unified front to face the Wintel threat, as well as looking to the future and supporting the emerging Network Computer and Set Top Box technologies.
Convergence International supports the following platforms:
Acorn, Amiga, Apple, ARM, BeBox, NCs, PIOS, PowerPC, Psion, STBs.

Demand for a mirror site

We are still searching for people with the knowledge and resources to mirror AcorNet Kaiserslautern. All which is needed is at least 200 MB of free disc space and a mirror script capable of fetching all data stored inside ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/acorn/. WWW access should be no problem on mirros sites as AcorNet uses relative path names.
I'll leave university in spring '97 and it seems very unlikely that I will be able to maintain this site afterwards. It would be great to find someone who's willing to continue our work... (not necessarily in germany :)
We will, of course, provide installation support and technical help as long as we can.

Who wants to take over AfA?

We are also searching for volunteers to take over our Archie-for-Archis search engine for Acorn related software on the net. Applicants should make sure they have an internet account which doesn't expire too early (well..:), 5-10 MB of free disc space, Perl5, GAWK, HTTP daemon installed on their system and the ability of calling cgi-bins. Procmail also would be very useful. Mail to Peter Böckmann for details.

Worms soon offline

Yes, it's sad news, but our site in Worms will soon cease to be. According to Günther Weber, the former maintainer of AcorNet Worms, this decision was made mainly because of the technical problems he encountered with the server. In addition, disc space limitations in Kaiserslautern were not as severe as we originally thought they would be.

Just in case you didn't notice... *grin* Our WWW front end has undergone another redesign. Comments are -as always- appreciated.
