Description:

This program emulates, or rather attempts to emulate, the behaviour of a BBC Microcomputer Model B with 32K of RAM, a paged ROM board with up to 16 paged ROMs and sideways RAM capability, and two disk drives. It does not support tapes, joysticks, serial or parallel port, speech, the ADC, the 1MHz bus, or anything else which involves plugging in hardware not mentioned above. It does emulate the 6845 and Video ULA chips, the System and User 6522 VIAs (with some exceptions) and the sound chip. This is all the hardware that is required to get most software working.

Please note that although the emulator does support sound, the support is currently rather buggy, not particularly accurate and rather incompatible (it works only with Soundblaster-compatible cards). Please read the section about sound before you try it.
The BBC Micro… for those that don’t know
The BBC Micro was a very nice computer released in 1981 by Acorn Computers Ltd. It was designed to coincide with a computer literacy drive by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) and there was a television series about the new-fangled home computers featuring it.
